Band Camp Final Information 2017

Please read!

Band camp camp is almost upon us!  Here are some final reminders.

Information and Packing

Please refer to the Band Camp Information pdf found on the downloads page of the band website,  Please use the checklist to help with packing. We will be transporting all sousaphones, bari saxes and percussion to camp.  All other instruments must be taken home after rehearsal today so you can take them to camp.

Section Banners

We will have a box in the band room for section banners.  Section leaders should drop their completed banners in the box prior to the seniors leaving for camp on Saturday at noon.

Reporting to Camp

Everyone needs to report to Camp Swoneky between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM on Sunday, August 6. Please allow 90 minutes of travel time from Dublin. Students should eat lunch before arriving.  There are several nice places to eat on the way to camp. You will be directed where to park.  You will then walk to Chamberlain Hall for check-in.  You will receive your cabin assignment and dot book. Once checked in, you will be able to drive to your cabin to unpack.  After you have unpacked you will need to re-park your car. You will have some time to explore the camp a bit.  Parents, we ask that you depart by 2:30.

Camp Business

When you first report, we will need to make sure that all business is completed.

  1. All fees paid.
  2. All medical paperwork turned in.
  3. All prescription medication in one ziplock bag, clearly marked, and in its original container.
  4. Handbook acceptance completed.

First Rehearsal

Our first music rehearsal will take place in Chamberlain Hall at 3:00 PM.  Please be on time, bring your dot book, music binder and folding music stand.

Parent Performance

We will have the final camp performance on Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 AM.  Students will be in summer uniform, so don't forget to pack it!  There will be some bleacher space available, but you may want to bring a folding chair.  Students will be released to their parents for check-out following the performance.

Looking forward to a great week at camp!
